It looks like it’s a plot in soap opera – two sisters professing love for each other, helping one another in their chosen careers and suddenly quarrelling and facing the fiscal’s office.
Could this be just a publicity gimmick for either one or for both of them?
An emotional actress Ara Mina hailed her half sister, actress Cristine Reyes, to the Quezon City prosecutor’s office last week for alleged libel and grave coercion.
Cristine, now a top star of ABS-CBN, was mum about the complaint against her. Veronique del Rosario, her manager, said she comment when they get a copy of the complaint.
Their problem reportedly started when the sisters bought a house for their mother. Cristine made the downpayment of P1 million while Ara paid P2.3 million in installment.
Now, Cristine reportedly got mad at her elder sister because she is allegedly being asked by Ara Mina for a balance of P500,000.
In response, Cristine allegedly asked Ara to turn over to her an SUV as payment for the remaining P1.8 million balance for the Quezon City townhouse which they bought together but the title as agreed was in the name of Cristine.
Ara said that she does not owe anything to her younger sister because she had paid for the balance of P2.3 million for their townhouse.
But in filing the complaint against her sister, Ara claimed that it was not the disagreement over money but the attitude of Cristine to teach her a lesson.
According to Ara’s lawyer, Cristine allegedly asked her older sister to turn over Mina’s SUV as payment for the remaining P1.8 million balance for a Quezon City townhouse they bought in 2011. If not, Cristine allegedly threatened that she will continue her personal attacks against her sister.
Ara told ABS-CBN news that she tried to reach out to Reyes to iron things out but to no avail.
“Hanggang makakapag-pasensya, magpa-pasensya ako. Punung-puno na ako eh, hindi ko na kaya, kasi kung anu-ano na ang sinasabi niya. Kailangan ko lang gawin ‘to kasi ayaw niya makipag-usap. Para maturuan siya ng leksyon, kasi hindi na tama ‘yung ginagawa niya,” Ara said in an ABS-CBN report.
Ara added that Cristine has been attacking her through text messages since she tried to resolve things with her.
“Kung ayaw niyo manggulo ako sa buhay niyo, bayaran utang niyo sa akin. Kung wala kayo pangbayad, ibigay niyo hinihingi ko,” Cristine allegedly said in one text message to Ara.
“I’m sure ibebenta mo ‘yang laspag mong katawan na pinagsawaan na ng lahat. Daig pa aso sa sobrang kati,” Cristine allegedly said in another text message.
“Nag-start lang nung sinabi ko na mag-usap tayo kasi marami akong naririnig na sinasabi mo,” Ara told the network. “Tapos nag-freak out na siya. ‘Wag na raw ako mag-text kung wala akong magandang sasabihin.”
“Tapos tuluy-tuloy na, hindi ko siya sinasagot. Buong Holy Week, hindi niya ako tinantanan. Hanggang ngayon nagte-text siya sa sister-in-law ko. Pati ibang tao dinadamay na niya,” Ara added.
Ara told ABS-CBN she was suing her sister because of her attitude.
“Pinag-pasensyahan ko na ‘yung ibang ginawa niya before, pero this time marami na po siyang dinamay na tao. Naghihintay ako na, ‘Ate, sorry kung may mga nasabi ako,’ pero wala. Parang wala na siyang sinasanto,” Ara said.
Ara said that she was forced to sue her sister when she felt her dignity as a sister and as a person was stepped upon from the alleged threats.
“Wala akong sinisingil. ‘Yung pagkatao ko lang. Lahat naman tayo nagkakamali, pero hindi darating sa point na gagamitin ‘yung pamilya ko para sa ganito,” Ara said.
“Mahirap sa ’kin ‘tong gagawin ko dahil sikat siya ngayon, ayoko siyang masira. Pero masyado niya nang hinahamak ‘yung pagkatao ko, niyuyurakan na niya. Gusto kong ipaalam sa kanya na walang ibang tutulong sa kanya kundi kapatid niya ta’s ginaganito niya,” she said.
On her Twitter account, Ara Mina posted messages that could be linked to this new issue between her and Cristine.
“@realAraMina: Words are powerful weapons. We should think of the consequences before we aim them at other people. You can never take it back.”
So, the quarrel of the sisters maybe for real. Their followers wish that they would be able to settle their dispute between them for the sake of family and their careers.
